Our Winemaker

Leading our efforts to produce unique and authentic wines is our Winemaker & Director of Operations, Derek Einberger, who joined us in the summer of 2019. Derek has worked harvests in Italy, California, and Oregon, and is currently a co-owner and Consulting Winemaker for Patton Valley Vineyard in Oregon’s esteemed Willamette Valley.  He joins our efforts to help us showcase Vancouver Island’s potential to make world class wines.  Derek’s eclectic and unfettered approach has cultivated a portfolio of wines that are at once both rustic and polished. His style of production, from root to fruit to glass, mirrors that of the overarching ethic of Roost, that things made deliberately and by hand, simply taste better.
